Become a Race for the Cure Volunteer

Race for the Cure Volunteers

More than twenty five years ago, Nancy G. Brinker promised her sister that she would do everything possible to put an end to breast cancer...a disease that has touched so many lives. Today, thanks to more than 100,000 survivors, volunteers and activists, Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest, most progressive grassroots organization fighting breast cancer.

Volunteers play a vital role in the Susan G. Komen Southern Nevada Race for the Cure®. Their passion and commitment is what makes our Race successful. Will join the fight by volunteering on Race day?

Last year, individuals from all walks of life volunteered their time and talents before, during and after the Race to ensure its success. We need leaders, thinkers, movers and shakers, educators, communicators…all types of talented people. On May 5, 2011 the 17th Annual Komen Southern Nevada Race for the Cure® will take place once again and we’re looking to add you to our wonderful team of volunteers.

We need volunteers in the following areas:

  • Food Court - this will contain moderate lifting and lots of movement
  • Operations - you will stand and walk a lot. Please let us know if you got problems with heavy lifting.
  • Registration - it’s mainly sitting down or working on feet.
  • T-shirts - moderate lifting and lots of movement.

If you would like to volunteer on Race Day, please complete the online Volunteer Release Form. In April you will receive an email with detailed information about race day and your job description. There will also be two opportunities to attend Race Day Volunteer Orientations on Saturday April 28th or Monday April 30th.  This will be your chance to come and learn more about your race day job, meet the other volunteers, enjoy some food and maybe get lucky and win a prize! If would like to experience this day with a friend, spouse, family, co-worker or neighbor, you are more than welcome to ask them to come along!

We look forward to seeing you on May 5th at the 2012 Komen Southern Nevada Race for the Cure!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our 2012 Race Volunteer Chair, Jolene Miguel, at volunteers@komensouthernnevada.org.
