2012 Community Grant Recipients

St. Rose Dominican Health Foundation

St. Rose Dominican Hospitals LogoSt. Rose Dominican Hospital R.E.D. (Responsible Early Detection) Rose program provides free breast cancer screening and diagnostic services to individuals under age 50 who lack health care coverage or the financial means to obtain them. Financial assistance during treatment is also available to qualified breast cancer patients. To raise money for these programs, St. Rose is hosting the Rose Regatta Dragon Boat Race and Festival at Lake Las Vegas on October 16, 2010. Barbara Greenspun WomenCare Centers of Excellence

WomensCare Center LogoSt. Rose Dominican Hospital provides professional fittings for post-mastectomy prosthesis through its Barbara Greenspun WomensCare Centers of Excellence, with convenient locations on both the east and west sides of town. In addition to the bra and prosthesis program, the WomensCare Centers offer numerous free or low-cost classes that encourage health and wellness for men and women. Nevada Health Centers, Inc. MammoVan

Nevada Health Centers LogoNevada Health Centers, Inc. Mammovan (Mobile Mammography) provides access to mammography services for uninsured women and men who do not qualify for other programs.  This also includes patients who are geographically isolated such as residents in our rural service areas.  Nevada Health Centers, Inc. is a qualified community health center with clinics located throughout Nevada offering primary care services based on a sliding fee scale. Center for Compassionate Care

Center for Compassionate Care LogoThe Center for Compassionate Care provides counseling and support services for women, men and children affected by breast cancer, either directly or indirectly. Individuals diagnosed with breast cancer and their loved ones have access to counseling and support groups that teach critical coping skills.  The program's goal is to minimize the fears, anxieties and stresses that are associated with tragic diagnosis and often-difficult treatment regimens. O'Callaghan Resource Integrated Oncology Network

The O'Callaghan Resource Integrated Oncology Network is nonprofit organization of Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada.  ORION was established to assist individuals who unable to afford the essentials of daily living while undergoing treatment for breast cancer. The types of patient assistance available include mortgage or rent payments, utilities, and health insurance or COBRA premiums. Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada

Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada (VMSN) is a volunteer staffed medical clinic that fosters a “culture of caring” by providing free health care and wellness services to the working, uninsured, and unemployed residents of Southern Nevada. The services provided through the VMSN Healthy Women's Screening Program include breast health education, breast screening and diagnostic testing, biopsies and consultations. Research, Education, and Access Community for Health

Resource, Education and Access Community for Health (R.E.A.C.H.) is a community based organization that works with and for underserved communities to build healthier futures by offering research, prevention, education, and direct services to improve the health and well-being of families. The Mujer a Mujer (Woman to Woman) inititative at R.E.A.C.H. is a breast health promotion and screening program that serves uninsured and underinsured Hispanic women under age 50.
