Your Dollars at Work

Each year, thousands of uninsured and underserved Southern Nevada women and men cannot afford breast healthcare. With the money raised through events like the Komen Southern Nevada Race for the Cure, we are able to fund screening, educations, support and treatment services they would otherwise not have access to.

75% of net proceeds generated through the Southern Nevada Affiliate is spent locally on our mission with the remaining 25% dedicated to global research grants. Over the past 16 years, your generosity has helped the Komen Southern Nevada Affiliate invest more than $4.5 million into community breast cancer programs throughout six local counties.

In 2011, we provided $700,000 in local grants to assist those whose lives have been affected by breast cancer. Our current grantees include:

• St. Rose Dominican Hospital's RED Rose Program - provides screening, diagnostic exams and financial support to uninsured women under the age of 50.
• The Center for Compassionate Care - provides counseling and support services to breast cancer patients and their loved ones.
• Barbara Greenspun WomensCare Center of Excellence - provides professional fittings for post mastectomy bras and prostheses for those in need.
• Access to Healthcare Network, Inc. - offers an established Patient Care Fund to assist with the cost of breast cancer treatment services and screening for qualified, uninsured women.
• Nevada Health Centers, Inc. Mammovan - provides access to mammograpy services for uninsured women and men who do not qualify for other programs or who are geographically isolated in our more rural service areas.
